“FINALLY! I could stop with a one-word review, because
that’s all Linux System Security requires: it is the only book
I’ve ever seen that discusses Linux security administration,
hitherto an obscure area learned informally from word-of-mouth and
experimentation. If you need to learn how to implement Linux
security, this is it! I can’t recommend this book highly enough for
those who need to learn Linux security from scratch.”
“he book starts with the basics, discusses security in general,
and then gets more specific, with detail on certain packages. The
book has been written for Linux, and contains many Linux-specific
topics. However, there is enough information in the book to help
administrators of other systems simply because there is so little
documentation available on free security tools. The book really
digs into various Linux tools, such as the IP firewall
capabilities, PAM (which I knew nothing about prior to reading this
book), SSH, and others. Every topic discussed is worthwhile,
because none has been particularly well documented elsewhere.”
