" 'The renewal and reinvention of Hewlett-Packard is under way,' said Carly Fiorina, president and chief executive of HP, based here, in a call with analysts following the release of the company's quarterly earnings. HP reiterated growth targets of 12 percent to 15 percent for both revenue and earnings for the full year."

"Fiorina also spoke about HP's Linux strategy, noting that Linux is complementary to HP-UX, the Unix operating system that powers HP's midrange servers. 'Our strategy really is focused on encouraging the use of Linux as a development environment and then providing the tools and the facilities to enable developers to easily target HP-UX for large-scale deployments, so what that really means is that ISVs who are developing on Linux can also support HP-UX when they need the high-availability features. We think that's going to be a real advantage for us,' Fiorina said."
