Dan Kuykendall writes to let us know about the release of Beta 1 of phpGroupWare:

"phpGroupWare has been a rapidly developed web based groupware application. Called by many the MS Exchange killer, it provides email, calendar, todo list, addressbook, file manager, an NNTP client, and its object oriented API.

"The phpGroupWare API is designed to allow third party applications to be added into it. Several such applications have already been started, such as a forum, a trouble ticket system, an inventory application, a napster client, an ftp client, and a chat program."

"It is fully open source under the GPL and has commercial support from Clear River Technologies. Written in the cross platform language PHP, it is known to run on Linux, BSD, Solaris, WinNT and OS/2 Server."
