Kansas City Star: KC computer firm Atipa continues cuts in work force

"Atipa Linux Solutions, a Kansas City computer company that received more than $30 million in venture capital last February, has laid off three-quarters of its staff in recent months. The most recent cutbacks came Friday, when the company laid off nine technicians."

"Atipa executives are restructuring the company and studying several alternatives to either sell or merge Atipa with another company, said Darrek Porter, director of corporate communications."

"Atipa opened in Kansas City in 1999 to build and sell servers and workstations using the Linux operating system. However, the company no longer thinks it can succeed in that market, Porter said."
