Several Korean Linux companies are backing out of partnerships with Red Hat, maintaining that the company provides little but brand name recognition while asking for exhorbitant fees in return.

1285 Korean Won = $1 USD, by the way.

"The move by Korean firms came as they are beginning to feel that the partnership with Red Hat did not bring much value apart from brand recognition, considering the scale of fees Red Hat demands.

Red Hat is understood to have demanded about 100 million won for each item included in the partnership program with Korean firms.

But Korean officials said they initially went into the deals with Red Hat in the hope of staging a variety of programs and receiving technical support, which proved futile as Red Hat offered little other than its brand."
