"Shares of struggling Linux software maker Caldera
International Inc. (NASDAQ:CALD)
, on Friday continued a steep climb on the back of positive
comments from IBM about the alternative operating system.
Caldera shares rose 13 cents, or 27 percent, to 61 cents on
Nasdaq in afternoon trade, after earlier rising as high as 65
cents, their highest level since late August. The shares, which
peaked in March 2000 at $33, have risen about 118 percent over the
past two days.
Shares of VA Linux Systems Inc. (NASDAQ:LNUX)
were up nearly 6 percent, or 15 cents, to $2.96, climbing some 48
percent in two days."
