"Four or five years ago, when IBM was struggling to re-establish
itself as the dominant IT provider, a lawsuit like the one brought
by SCO this March might have been a lot scarier. A threat to IBM's
software and server businesses would have seemed like a threat to
the entire company's future.
"But today everything is different. IBM is dominating so many
product areas that a danger to any one seems trivial. Or is it?
Could SCO's lawsuit cause customer defections and drive IBM's new
Linux product direction right into the ground? The consensus is
