"'Everyone shares, and everyone gains,' says James Byrne, IT
manager at moving and relocation firm the AES Group. Byrne oversaw
the installation of a Linux-based system that serves 400 users in
15 countries, dealing with 30-40 different languages.
"Though the offer of something for nothing may indeed be
enticing, installing Linux should in no way be considered a walk in
the park, according to Byrne.
"'It's not for the faint of heart. You must be willing to fly by
the seat of your pants,' he quips.
"Even so, he believes the pros certainly outweigh the cons,
adding that the transition at his firm got started when the company
wanted to free up funds to grow the business..."
