Re-Imagining Linux Platforms to Meet the Needs of Cloud Service Providers
"A recent Yankee Group survey asked 1,200 businesses about their
plans for their installed base. Of the businesses planning a full
or partial change from Windows or Unix (usually but not always to
Linux), less than half had done their due diligence. Companies are
pondering thousands to millions of dollars in IT expenditures and
no one is running the numbers in the main office! But you need not
be among them, if you use these tips.
"You'll see a lot of blanket statements in the Yankee Group's
report, such as 'Linux costs, on average, 44% of what Windows
costs.' But your company is not the average company. Average
companies don't exist..."
