"Enercon (India) Limited has embarked on a cost cutting
exercise, junking its licensed Oracle database for SAPs freebie.
The company is also evaluating the option of using Linux to tone
down its IT budget.
"Speaking to CXOtoday, V.V. Ramanarao, chief IT, Enercon (India)
Ltd (a joint venture between Enercon GmbH, Germany, and the Mehra
Group of India that pioneers the concept of wind energy generation
in India), said, 'We have Linux in mind for our IT setup, as it
will help us in reducing costs on a large scale, but that can
happen only when associated bottlenecks with Linux are
