"The Electricity Generating Authority of Thailand (Egat) has successfully bundled Open Office to run on 7,000 desktop PCs and reduced the cost of IT investment by around Bt40 million [US$1,221,000/€894,000] a year.

"Pisit Inkasuwan, director of the IT planning division at Egat, said the state enterprise had a policy to adopt open-source software in the organisation to reduce the cost of ICT management and ICT systems..."
