"The only thing that now needed to be done was to install an OS.
The SUN Netra is designed to install and run Solaris and will
happily still do so even with the most up-to date versions (Version
10 as of this writing). You can also download OpenSolaris from
Sun's website.
"For my purposes however I decided to download Ubuntu Linux 8.04
Sparc Edition, although which OS you decide to use is entirely up
to you. My reasons for using Ubuntu were that the rest of my Linux
platforms all run it, and I have a set of already-running
monitoring scripts that work with them, making monitoring much
easier.
"Kick starting the installation however is the same no matter
which OS you decide to install.
"Sparc CD-ROMs don't use the same boot system that conventional
ISO CD-ROMs do, so if you're downloading images, don't expect to
see the "bootable" section when you load the image to burn it."
