"Now MIP has replaced Linux and related open-source software programs with Microsoft Windows and Office.

"Firth says the efficiency gains MIP has realised have made the transition worthwhile. The company has been able to create a central document repository using Microsoft's SharePoint Server software, making it easier to share information quickly inside the business.

"It's also easier to manage software licences and quicker to install software on a new PC when the company hires new recruits, Firth says."
