GeekNews.org: Report from Linux World Conference and ExpoAug 16, 2000, 15:55 (2 Talkback[s])
"One of the things that really interests people attending this show is LinuxFest. Everybody is like is: "Was it as bad as we heard?", "Dude, how did you survive?" and "Wow. sorry I missed it (said with extreme sarcasm)". Fest in a lot of ways was a bad thing for me personally, because it almost shook my faith in Linux I was thinking "am I the only one who gets this?" I was also afraid that Fest might be someone's first exposure to Linux. Expo would be a great place for a newbie to come see Linux. That is not to say all of Fest was bad the low turnout gave me a chance to talk to Bruce Perens in depth and I might not have had a chance to learn about geeknews.org."
"The other thing a lot of people can't get over is how much Expo has grown. A lot of people have mentioned that they attended the first expo when it was in a small hall and only half filled. I consider this a very good thing."
