"'Linux is a toy.' - Steve Ballmer, CEO, Microsoft Corp., regarding IBM's recent huge investment in Linux."
"Those four words from Mister Ballmer say more about Microsoft than Linux. I have to ask, is that the best Ballmer can do? If you're reading this from Linux, congratulations, you're playing with your toys. Given the level of garbage that comes out of Redmond regarding Linux these days, this ranks barely a three out of ten. Must try harder Steve! If you're going to try and criticize Linux, at least do a decent job. You owe us that much. I don't mind being insulted, as long as it's eloquent and makes sense."
"Let's take this literally. Linux is a toy. Toys are fun. Many people reading this probably have one favourite toy they remember from their childhood that brings but nothing but fond memories. Toys are a symbol of enjoyment and fun. I have fun using Linux, so in that respect, Steve Ballmer is right. There's an old quote that goes "He who dies with the most toys wins." According to Ballmer, everyone using Linux is a potential winner. Sounds like cause for celebration to me!"
