"Geek-beloved search site Google has fully recovered from last year's public relations gaffe by giving Internet historians exactly what they wanted and more: the most comprehensive collection of Usenet posts available on the Internet.

Google announced Tuesday that its Usenet archive now includes 20 years worth of discussions, with 700 million postings from more than 35,000 topical categories dating back to May 1981.

...The "World Wide Web Project" was announced by Tim Berners-Lee in August 1991, Linus Tovalds proudly posted to announce the new Linux operating system in October 1991, and Marc Andreessen's first Netscape announcement appears three years later."
