"You can increase the performance of a Linux system in various ways, and one of the most popular methods is increasing the performance of the processor. An obvious solution is to use a processor with a faster clock rate, but for any given technology there exists a physical limit where the clock simply can't go any faster. When you reach that limit, you can use the more-is-better approach and apply multiple processors."
