“Linus Torvalds, inventor of the Linux operating system,
Steve Wozniak, educator and co-founder of Apple Computer, and
Esther Dyson, president of EDventure Holdings joined dozens of
other dot.com leaders in signing an Open Letter to Congress calling
for “Green cards, not guest worker visas”.

“We hope that the Congress is beginning to get it,” said Paul
Donnelly, organizer of the Immigration Reform Coalition which
circulated the letter published today as a full-page ad in Capitol
Hill’s Roll Call newspaper. “Blowing the lid off the H-1B visa
ceiling without fixing the green cardsystem will make things worse,
not better. “

“The Immigration Reform Coalition
http://www.immigrationreform.com is explicitly Pro-Immigration,
Pro-Family; Anti-Regulation, and Anti-Guest Worker. The Coalition,
an unincorporated entity that includes organizations which make up
250,000 members, advocates two reforms: 1) that the spouses and
minor children of legal permanent residents should themselves have
permanent residency, and 2) that permanent residency, rather than
temporary visas, should be the focus for skill-based
immigration.”
