"Motorola...has announced an unified Linux strategy that will provide its OEM customers with a broad selection of Linux-based platforms, open source software, service and support, training and integration services. In support of this initiative, MCG is collaborating with Lineo, Inc., an embedded Linux software company and Caldera Systems, which offers a full range of "Linux for Business" products, services and Linux educational courses.
"Elaborating on the company's Linux strategy, MCG Sales Manager Venkatesh Kumaran said, "The performance and flexibility of Linux combined with its open source environment will help speed time to market and help reduce development costs for MCG's OEM customers."
"In line with the new strategy, MCG introduced a new family of Linux-based platforms, the emS-ATXI and the SLX Series. emS-ATXI, in MCG's new emS Series of Intel x86 embedded server platforms integrating the Linux open operating system, to power a variety of telecommunications, Internet, imaging and industrial automation. The SLX Series, the first in a new family of Linux-based embedded platforms for Internet networking applications such as web access, web security, web caching, and virtual private networks (VPNs)."
