"Hello, everyone. Starting this week, I will try to answer the question that's been plaguing many Linux-ites out there: "If Linux is so great, why isn't my best friend/sister/next door neighbor/etc using it?" Heck, why are people even still using NT?"
"With all the publicity that Linux has gotten lately, some of my least techno-savvy friends are coming up to me and asking me whether I think they should run Linux. When I think of the number of calls I get from those friends with strictly Windows- related problems (which usually end in "Just reboot"), I shudder. Those that are a little more computer literate have a different bend on it. "Sure, I'd like to run Linux, but administering a Linux system is going to take me years to learn."
"Trapped. Devil and the deep blue sea stuff. Windows is a mediocre OS but the alternative is too hard to take care of. Where will this madness end? This "difficult to administer" problem is where I'd like to begin this column."
