Raleigh News & Observer: N.C. State team develops hacker trace for Linux systemsFeb 15, 2000, 06:16 (0 Talkback[s])
"Linux-based computer systems soon will be able to trace hacker attacks in a matter of seconds with a software package developed by an N.C. State University research team.
The software, called Deciduous, has been in development more than two years by a team of 13 researchers using a $480,000 federal grant.
The primary developer, security expert Felix Wu, said the final version will be available in several weeks free of charge, primarily to universities and other large system users."
"Wu cautioned Monday that his software is not for home users or small computer operations, but for Internet service providers, or ISPs, working in collaboration to snare an intruder."
