"Intel said it plans to announce Tuesday at the RSA Conference in Europe that it is open sourcing its Common Data Security Architecture (CDSA) reference software."

"Intel Architecture Labs developed CDSA, which provides an open, cross-platform, interoperable software framework for development of security applications for Internet transactions. The Open Group standards group, which includes IBM (stock: IBM) and other industry leaders, adopted CDSA as an open specification in late 1997...."

"There's a lot of enthusiasm in the Linux community for CDSA," Smith said. "Today, the Linux community does not have a security infrastructure like CDSA."
