"Today's Love Bug virus outbreak reinforces the fact that savvy solutions providers can make big money recommending, selling and managing security wares for their customers."

"One-third (34%) of solutions providers receive security-related calls from customers on a monthly basis. One-quarter (26%) receive calls weekly. Solutions providers report that among customers' top security concerns are data theft and extortion (37%), intrusion detection and attacker identification (31%), protecting internal systems (16%) and viruses (16%)."

"On a level of 1 to 5 (1=least secure, 5=most secure), solutions providers rated Novell NetWare 5.x and Sun Solaris ahead of the pack, in terms of 'out-of-box' settings. Both operating systems earned a 3.7 mark. Other operating systems covered in the survey were SCO UnixWare (3.5), NetWare 4.x (3.4), Caldera and Red Hat Linux (3.2), Windows 2000 (3.0), MacOS (2.8), NT 4.0 (2.5) and Windows 9x (1.6)."
