LinuxPR: 'Know how' and experience perfectly combined - Linux to the S/390

Aug 11, 2000, 11:57 (2 Talkback[s])

"The Schumann Management Consultancy AG and ID-PRO AG have announced a promising co-operative venture to allow for the full implementation of GNU/Linux applications on the S/390 platform."

"The co-operation combines the delivery of consultancy services and technical support for the deployment of the Open-Source operating system on the IBM-Parallel Enterprise Server, for which, in May 2000, the operating system, Linux/390, was officially released."

"In the contexts of e-commerce and server consolidation, particularly, the combination of Linux's acknowledged strengths, such as flexibility and stability, allied to the maximum availability, security and performance of IBM, significantly out-performs other high-performance computers. The demands on IT will increase dramatically with the proliferation of e-commerce. Linux, combined with the S/390, is the optimal solution to meet such demands and challenges. In combination with the large computer, Linux will successfully combine all the advantages of the Unix and Mainframe world'' stated Christoph Laube, Head of IT Infrastructure Services and Procurement with Schumann AG."
