Daniel Christle reviews the latest version of XSentry Filewall from Trustix, and he likes what he sees.

"XSentry Firewall is a solid offering from Trustix AS. As you may have guessed, this is the same company that had become famous for their distribution, Trustix Secure Linux. Obviously they have security on the brain. It shows...."

"XSentry 1.5 is the latest offering from Trustix in the firewall series. It comes in two licenses: 2 zone and 4 zone licenses. Zones, referring to the area covered. The 4 zone license being aimed at companies that run a series of servers that perform specific tasks such as web, mail, or FTP. The two zone license is aimed at smaller companies that have multi-purpose servers. There are also some feature differences between the two that need to be considered as well. The 2 zone license doesn't allow port forwarding and has only limited Masquerading ability(no rule setting for outbound traffic)."

"What I liked about XSentry is that you can configure the firewall from a workstation very easily. There is very little to be done on the server itself. While other firewall suites have this functionality, Trustix has made the job very easy and intuitive. Great for the stressed system administrator."
