"Long a bastion of geeks with seemingly wild dreams,
this year's LinuxWorld Expo will be focused on purely practical
matters instead.
The expo will provide more realistic advice and entry-level
instruction on using Linux than ever before, according to Charlie
Greco, president and CEO of IDG World Expo, the company that
presents the show.
This new no-nonsense approach also extends to the products that
will be on display on the exhibition floor. A few fun gadgets will
make an appearance, but security and network management software
will be a major focus at the expo, which takes place Tuesday
through Friday at the Jacob Javits Convention Center.
Prior LinuxWorld expos have had the chummy feeling of a
religious-revival show, where everyone is preaching to the already
converted. But this year, the converted have decided to gently
proselytize."
