The Times of India: Sobig Worms Give Linux Some Wriggle Room

"Recently, when six versions of the Sobig worm wreaked havoc on Miscrosoft systems worldwide, the decade-old debate between Microsoft and Linux users in India was reopened.

"According to predictions by the New Scientist, the next version of the Sobig worm, expected this month, will not only overwhelm networks with infected mail but also lead to a massive rise in spam.

"The race between the Microsoft Windows platform and the Linux open source operating system (where viruses are kept localised and can be controlled by local solutions) now seems to be turning into an ideological tussle between academia and the corporate world..."
