"Novell executives, including Chairman and Chief Executive Eric Schmidt, sought to paint Novell Directory Services (NDS) eDirectory as the glue that will unite all networks and applications across the Internet, a concept they described as One Net."

"Novell designed the DENIM model, which will be delivered with the help of strategic partners, to serve three areas of Internet service: Web management, including security and policy management; Web content, including publishing, storage and delivery; and Web portal, including integration, identity and knowledge services that provide a foundation for e-business applications."

"While Schmidt said Novell would continue to sell its flagship NetWare "for 100 years," the company outlined DENIM using eDirectory as the underlying foundation for its new Net services. The plan is for eDirectory to enable One Net while operating on top of NetWare or other operating systems such as Windows, Sun Solaris or Linux."
