Dubbed Petra, Linux Mint 16 has been officially released on November 30, 2013. It is based on Ubuntu 13.10 (Raring Ringtail), uses Linux kernel 3.8, and includes the Cinnamon 2.0 and MATE 1.6 desktop environment.

"OEM images are for computer vendors and manufacturers. They allow Linux Mint to be “pre-installed” on a machine which is then used by another person than the one who performed the installation."
