featuring my piece on whether the Free Software development model
could have produced a game on the level of Riven. I’m not
convinced.”

“It’s my opinion that the only way a game on the level of Riven
or Myst could be created, barring some extremely multi-talented
individuals working for a long period of time, using the Free
Software process would be to create an engine using the usual
methods, and then pay the artists and musicians needed to create
the music and imagery necessary to finish the game.”
