About icecast: icecast is a Mpeg Layer III (mp3) audio streaming server licensed under the GNU General Public License. It is compatible with Nullsoft's SHOUTcast system, and runs on most *nix systems. There is some support for OS/2, BeOS, and MacOS (using the java implementation of the server). And from recent tests, icecast has proven to be the most fully featured, robust, and efficient of the mp3 audio streaming servers.
