Thanks to Jeremy Allison for this link.

"Latest Mindcraft benchmark is still not to the liking of open source advocates."

"Get out your flame-retardant suits: Microsoft Corp. NT triumphed over Linux in Round 2 in the Mindcraft Inc. benchmark saga--in spite of the involvement this time around of representatives from the Linux community in the testing and tweaking process.

"So, are open source advocates taking these results lying down? You've got to be kidding."

"PCWeek Labs agreed to host a new round of tests the week of June 14, attended by representatives from Mindcraft, Microsoft, Red Hat and Linux hardware vendor Penguin Computing Inc. The new results came back that NT still outperforms Linux."

Complete story.

Samba Team member Jeremy Allison adds:

"I got a bit misquoted :-). Firstly, I really *was* in Paris for the Paris Linux Expo (anyone enjoy my talk ?).

"Secondly, I'm not working on Samba issues related to the benchmark, I'm just working on normal Samba issues (as we know Samba isn't the bottleneck).

"Otherwise, not a bad article :-)."
