"Axis Communications (in Sweden) has announced the Journaling Flash File System ("JFFS"), aimed at providing a crash/powerdown-safe filesystem for diskless embedded devices. JFFS is released under the GPL. The the current version works with the Linux 2.0 kernel and supports industry standard memory mapped NOR Flash memory devices."

"Axis has established a web page for JFFS, at www.developer.axis.com/software/jffs. The code is available inside the eLinux tar-file in the download area of Axis' web site. A standalone patch file will be available soon, along with imporved documentation and a whitepaper about the design."

Press release.
