"Corel WordPerfect 9 for Linux comes with everything you would find in the equivalent product for Windows, including support for exporting PDFs. The HTML editor included is very mature as far as HTML editors under Linux go, and this version does not suffer from the same problems in dealing with line graphics in your document that Version 8 did. I imported several complex documents that I work with regularly into WordPerfect 9 and it had no trouble with any of them. Furthermore, the software seemed very stable and I was not treated to a single freeze-up or crash."

"Quattro Pro is a powerful spreadsheet program. I have used it for doing network traffic analysis and baseline reports for my clients in its Windows form, including extensive graphing of network trends. ... With Corel Presentations 9 it's ridiculously easy to create a slide presentation. It supports features such as HTML publishing, and simple bitmap editing (in case you are allergic to The Gimp). ... In all fairness, you can't become a Paradox 9 expert overnight, so I might be being too harsh on it. However, to really do this right, Corel needs to take a good hard long look at the Linux community and at least try to support what is already out there with their products in a more seamless manner. ODBC drivers should be included to support PostgreSQL and MySQL at a minimum."

"SUMMARY
Good first try. There are areas that Corel needs to work on - they're going to have to find some way internally of both supporting the Linux marketplace in an intelligent manner, as well as keeping their code portable. This may mean having a group of individuals at Corel who's sole purpose it is to develop Linux-specific components for their major applications and some standard way in their apps of hooking these in. I'm not disappointed by their Wine emulation work. I think they've done a nice job and they should be commended for it. The applications are beautiful, functional, and stable."
