Some say "you cannot have it both ways". Now QT can be used in three ways :
- under the GPL for Free Software,
- under the QPL for Open Source, and
- under the commercial license for commercial software.

So you should be the most lucky men on earth as all programmers can use it now.

I wish you and the GNOME programmers good luck. I will use their software as I use also the KDE software. That is after all what Free Software offers : freedom and choise.
