CollabNet announced two deployments of their SourceCast software today, one creating a web site that will provide a central point of coordination for projectsbuilt around the Mozilla project, and another with Motorola to build a base of applications for their Java 2 Platform, Micro Edition (J2ME) communications and computing handsets.
CollabNet's SourceCast is a platform designed to encourage open source
development by providing the tools needed to coordinate projects, such
as mailing list management, revision control, issue tracking, and
surveys. The handsets upon which the applications will run are
expected to be available in the first half of this year through
several iDEN network operators.
The Mozilla-related project, Mozdev.org, also built on SourceCast,
is being provided by CollabNet to bring numerous projects built around
Mozilla to a central location. The site currently lists over twenty
projects including a role-playing game engine, a theme builder, an
advanced bookmark management tool, and the popular Aphrodite
theme/interface project.
