“Branching out into what it believes will be a lucrative
market, Red Hat Software on Wednesday announced it will offer a
number of consulting and support services for open-source products,
including the Apache Web Server, operating under distributions of
Linux other than its own.“
“Besides Apache, which is the best-selling Web server, Linux
vendor Red Hat will support products such as Sendmail and Postfix.
Red Hat officials claim that about 80 percent of all ISPs use
Sendmail as their primary messaging product.”
“The new initiative, aimed at larger corporate accounts, will
include several more open-source products. Eventually, company
officials hope to support the applications of all those developers
thoroughly committed to the open-source model.”
