IBM releases open-source Jikes Java compiler

Thanks to Dave Shields of IBM Watson Research Center for
bringing us this information.

IBM threw support to the Open Source community today with the
announcement that the IBM Jikes Java Compiler has
been released as Open Source software.

The licensing terms are
currently being reviewed by the Open Source board. source code is
already available for download and a mailing list has
been created for the Jikes project.

“Linux has quickly become the most talked about platform for
e-business — and with good reason.”

Thanks, IBM, for bringing Jikes to the Open Source
community!
