TechWeb: Java Benchmark Restriction Raises Concern

Sun Microsystems wants Java developers to know it doesn’t plan
to enforce a clause in its Java Development Kit 1.2 license
agreement that prohibits the publication of information about the
performance of Java applications.

The Binary Code License Agreement states that the licensee “may
not publish or provide the results of any benchmark or comparison
tests run on software to any third party without the prior written
consent of Sun.”
