The report appeared in Japan Computer News, a subscription
service, for December 18, 1998.
Otsuka Shokai has begun marketing enterprise systems which use
NEC and IBM PC servers running Linux. The Alpha L Point system is
based on either the NEC Express 5800 or the IBM NetFinity PC
server.
10art-ni of Tokyo, a subsidiary of Otsuka Shokai, will develop
applications in Java and provide engineering support for the new
systems.
Otsuka Shokai claims that a single-server, 100-client system may
well cost less than half of a similar Windows NT system.
