“Linux server market share will continue to grow: (yawn) Linux
is now accepted and nothing short of a victory for SCO in its legal
saga is going to stop the momentum. (I refuse to call that–its
legal not about IT). The server market is not a real market per se,
it is an aggregation of several markets–servers sold per function
(web server, file server, mail server, etc.), general purpose
servers (servers bought by momentum because so many useful apps run
on them) and servers bundled for a given app. Linux is now credible
for database servers and for major applications such as SAP. This
is a rising trend for Linux and consequently it will grab further
market share. Linux is expanding further into the territory of
Windows and Unix. This will continue for several years yet…”
