1999 Open Source Workshop in Taiwan

this announcement.

The 1999 Open source workshop at Academia Sinica in Taiwan will
be held May 22, 23.

Three purposes of this workshop are:

  1. Discussing how the open source movement will impact the
    software market in Taiwan.
  2. Internationalization development in the open source
    movement.
  3. Open source software development and the feedback to national
    society.

This workshop is held by the Institute of Information Science
and Computer Center of Academia Sinica, and the Education
Department of the Taiwan government with some co-sponsors.

Major events will include lectures by Acer CEO and many
professors from Academia Sinica and various universities.

Major topics will include Chinese Linux distribution,
programming for local culture, nationalized open source software
development and open source in Chinese Web sites.

Media coverage will include realtime video broadcasts.
