32BitsOnline: Sybase Adaptive Server Enterprise

“Sybase [has released] its Adaptive Server Enterprise (ASE)
version 11.1 for Linux, but only for the i386 platform. It is
currently available for download from Sybase’s web site, and is
shipped with Red Hat 5.2.

“ASE 11.1 is not a current version. In fact, the follow up
release, version 11.5 has been out for well over a year, and even
that version has been superseded by version 11.9.”

“Noticeably absent from ASE For Linux is the Enterprise-level
price tag which Sybase charges for its other platforms. It is, in
fact, totally free and totally unsupported. It has no expiration
date, nor any nagging dialogs associated with share-ware. It in all
ways resembles the product which shipped on the other Unix flavors
such as Solaris and SCO.”
