“The company also said that it has named Fernand Sarrat,
formerly the head of network security software developer Cylink
Corp., as its chief executive. Sarrat was also a 23-year veteran of
International Business Machines Corp.

Linuxcare, based in San Francisco, did not identify the other
investors or disclose the amount of funding it has received. But
the investment by the well-known Kleiner Perkins is a big
endorsement in Linux. It is also the first Kleiner Perkins
investment in a Linux-related company.”

The seeming discrepancy between the headline’s reference to
“CFO” vs. the article’s “chief executive” appeared in the original
wire service story. – Ed.
