“The title is provoking but not intended as a pun towards the
AbiSource Community. Many of them are very good programmers some
even brilliant craftsmen. What I want to discuss is if
cross-platform development is a good objective.”

“…I am not saying the AbiWord team is doing things wrong
really. It is a question of priorities and objectives. They are
building a very good product which will be available on multiple
platforms. BUT, my impression is that many people (including me)
think that what GNOME needs is a word processor which integrate as
close as possible (comparable to and integrating with
Gnumeric/Dia/etc). The goals is not mutially exclusive, but they
put an different emphasis on the work process and the outcome.”

The subject for a discussion should be: Is there a need for
a new Gnome specific WP?
