“All school computers in South Africa could get free software if
the government accepts a formal offer by international computer
company Corel Corporation to provide the material…”

“The company’s chief executive officer, Michael Cowpland, has
offered to provide Corel WordPerfect, which is built for the Linux
operating system, for each school computer, free of charge.”

“He told the Internet business magazine iStrategy that
although the offer was free, it was not a scaled-down offering
produced cheaply, but a full-featured package.”

“I’d like to challenge the South African government to adopt our
WordPerfect Linux for the education system and save a ton of money,
as well as endorse a worldwide standard instead of endorsing a
single company,” he said.”
