“MontaVista Software, the company powering the embedded
revolution, today announced that it will deliver VisualAge Micro
Edition 1.4 (VAME) for Hard Hat Linux 2.0.

The new VisualAge Micro Edition 1.4 from IBM/OTI is a
development and deployment solution for building multi-modal Java
applications and the embedded devices that run them. The IBM
tool-kit offers embedded applications developers all the benefits
of Java technology in a high performing, reliable and robust
environment. The combination of the J9 Virtual Machine and Hard Hat
Linux achieves this goal, providing substantially more in terms of
portability, developer productivity and application
performance.

“This release is a continuation of our strategy to offer
best-in-class products to enhance the use of Hard Hat Linux for
embedded applications,” said Sheila Baker, vice president,
marketing at MontaVista. “This add-on product provides developers
with a certified J2ME Java environment as well as expanded platform
support.””
