Alteon Networks Introduces Open Developers Program for World’s Most Popular Gigabit Ethernet Adapters

“In an unprecedented move to speed the development of advanced
high-speed server adapters, Alteon Networks today introduced an
Open Developers’ Program that makes available, free of charge, both
driver and firmware source code for its popular ACEnic Gigabit
Ethernet adapters.”

“We believe in the Linux model of openness and view this program
as important to the networking industry as the release of Linux was
to the system world,” said Ted Schroeder, co-founder and lead
engineer of the Open Developers’ Program at Alteon Networks.”

“It’s amazing to watch the amount and speed at which new
features can be developed by opening up the source code to a highly
creative developer community,” concluded Schroeder.
