From the Linux
Programming
website:

[vmlinuz] will be giving a tutorial on on programming in C in
Linux, and covering many different elements of writing, compiling
and distribution programs. It should be a bit of fun, and give new
users of C and Linux a chance to get a decent grounding in C.

He will be covering the following items in the first
session:

  • What C is and its benifits/disadvantages
  • The process of writing a program
  • Writing our first program
  • Discussion on how that program works
  • Adding more to that program

When the tutorial has finished there will be a Q&A session
in which he will answer any questions that users may have.

You will need to bring the following to the tutorial:

  • A Linux distribution with:
  • The GNU C Compiler: gcc
  • A Text Editor

You will also need to be preferably in Linux when you are in the
channel for the tutorial. This is because he will be actually
asking you to type in examples and compile them througout the
tutorial. This is not essential, but it helps. The tutorial will
start May 9th at 8.00 PM GMT.

Jono Bacon at Linux UK has started
#linuxprogramming on dalnet. Jono (and me) is hoping that the
channel will be a place for developers to meet and bring them
together. Another idea is to teach some kind of classes in the
channel.
