“… SGI… has already announced its support for the open
source operating system. Linux is now offered on the SGI 1000
server family, as well as the new 1400L Linux server to be released
later this year. The servers are based on SGI’s Linux release
1.0.”

“SGI has worked feverishly to gain a foothold in the
development process and has released several of its own kernel
updates.
These include the new XFS file system, which will
soon be available under the GNU General Public License (GPL).

“SGI is also preparing for several open source releases of other
software.”
